March Birthday Getaways

In March, when the world starts to bloom with new beginnings, I celebrate my own. For years, I’ve made a promise to myself—a promise to honor ‘me’. Since 2018, I’ve marked my birthday with an annual trip to an island for a 3-4 day getaway, each journey, a personal ritual of self-love and reflection. The tradition is my way of filling the gaps of forgotten childhood memories, the blurred moments that left me feeling disconnected from my younger self. I only recall having a few birthday celebrations as a child, so as an adult, I intentionally create experiences that allow me to celebrate who I am, embracing the joy and freedom I lost during my teen years.

The pandemic kept me grounded for a couple of years, but once the world reopened, I returned to my vow. These trips are about much more than just the places I visit—they’re about reconnecting with the inner child that was once suppressed after becoming a teen mom at the age of 15. Sometimes I take these journeys with my closest girlfriends and sons, but most often, I share them with my partner, the one who knows me best, the one who understands the depths of my soul.

Since 2018, I've been fortunate to explore some of the world’s most breathtaking islands: Los Cabos, where my journey began, Aruba, Panama, Curacao, Belize, and Grand Cayman. Each destination holds memories of me letting my guard down to new experiences and adventures, of unearthing pieces of myself long buried, and of truly celebrating my existence. My birthday getaways aren’t just vacations—they are pilgrimages to self-discovery, moments to reflect on how far I’ve come and to embrace the joy of being alive.

In 2025, I journeyed to Grand Cayman Island, where I connected with my inner childhood at Stingray City, playing like a child in the beautiful turquoise waters with giant stingrays - the largest female weighed 180 pounds, horseback riding along Barker’s Beach, and riding bareback in the beautiful turquoise waters. The experiences are etched into my memory. With each new island, I not only discover a new place but also a new part of me. I’ve learned that true celebration isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the journey inward, the freedom to grow, and the courage to live life instead of life living me—to cherish who I am, always.
