Rome, Milan, Switzerland, and Venice
What an extraordinary journey we embarked on to celebrate our 11th anniversary in the heart of Europe! This trip wasn’t just about visiting new places—it was about embracing a new chapter together. From the awe-inspiring architecture of the basilicas in Rome to the ancient grandeur of the Colosseum, every moment felt like a reminder of the beauty and history that surrounds us.
In Milan, we stood beneath the towering Duomo di Milano, marveling not just at its intricate architecture, but at the breathtaking view from the rooftop—a reminder of how vast and beautiful life’s journey can be. And when we gazed upon Da Vinci’s Last Supper, we felt the timeless power of art to inspire and move us.
Next up was a train ride to Switzerland, and let me tell you, I was beyond excited. As a Black woman in Switzerland for the first time, I was ready to soak in every single moment. We made our way to Zurich first, and from there, we set off on a day trip to Jungfrau and Interlaken—the highest point in Switzerland.
Y’all, when I tell you that place took my breath away, I mean it. Standing there, high up in the Swiss Alps, I felt like I was on top of the world. The air was so crisp and fresh, it almost felt like I was breathing in pure magic. The snow-covered peaks stretched endlessly in every direction, looking like something out of a dream. The landscape was like a masterpiece, painted with greens, whites, and blues, so surreal, I pinched myself.
I couldn’t help but think how much it reminded me of God’s greatness. The strength, the resilience, and the history in this place—it all felt surreal. There’s something humbling about being up there, so small yet so deeply part of this vast, beautiful world. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I’ll carry that view with me forever. It was a moment of pure awe, reminding me how wide and wonderful this world is—and how beautiful it is to be part of it.
As if Switzerland wasn’t enough, we boarded a train to Venezia, where we truly embraced our love for each other, gliding along the waters of the Floating City. As a lover of pictures, I was in heaven—Venice is one of Italy’s most picturesque cities. Everywhere I turned, there were winding canals, charming bridges, and graceful gondoliers—those skilled pilots of the Venetian boats. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and I couldn’t get enough of it.
Our travels were more than just a trip—they were an unforgettable adventure, a celebration of love and discovery. From one iconic city to the next, we crisscrossed between Europe and Switzerland with hearts full of wonder, feeling more connected to each other with every step. Each moment was a new adventure, and I’m filled with gratitude for the memories we made and the journey we shared. Here's to this chapter, and the many more that await us!
In case you’re wondering, Europe didn’t end in Venice for us—it was just the beginning of an even greater adventure. In Summer 2024, we returned with a new sense of wonder and excitement, this time aboard a cruise that would take us to explore even more of Europe. And Greece and Turkey awaited us too. The cruise was our vehicle to uncover new horizons in 17 places, including four countries, various cities and towns to deepen our connection to the world, and to experience the beauty that each new place had to offer.
